FAMILY Drake

Owners

The Drake brothers, Scott and Jim, together with their father, the Fred Drake in the company name, acquired this vineyard in 2005 with the objective of growing premium grapes and making premium wine.  (It was planted in 2000.)  What we want to do is make wine that best expresses this elevated, cool climate vineyard allows and that typifies the Adelaide Hills region.  We make very small quantities, from low yields, hand-picking the very best selection of grapes to go into bottle, every single grape from this vineyard.  It's not a very sensible way to make a living but we hope you enjoy the results.

Peter Leske

Viniculturalist

Peter Leske is our eminence grise and winemaker.

Once upon a time, Peter graduated from Roseworthy with a degree in oenology (and subsequently earned an MBA) and, since his first vintage in the Hunter Valley, he has worked in various winemaking roles in Australia and overseas, with Mitchelton in the Goulburn; Grosset Wines in the Clare Valley; in California; and a host of prestigious French estates in Burgundy, the Rhône, Bordeaux, and Limoux including Domaines Dujac, Alain Graillot and l’Arlot.  Latterly, Peter spent 10 years as the chief winemaker for Nepenthe in the Adelaide Hills.

Peter is now something of an Adelaide Hills specialist, and effectively put down roots here when he and a partner purchased the former Nepenthe winery at Lenswood, renaming it Revenir Winemaking.  It is here that he labours with love on our wines - as well as his own and those of a few long-standing clients.

We are delighted to have Peter making our wine – and advising us generally on all things vinicultural – always with great wit and charm.
